empower® in secured networks in read-only mode

For clients with strict security requirements, we often recommend implementing empower® Express in Read-Only mode.

For clients with strict security requirements, we often recommend implementing empower® Express in Read-Only mode. This configuration enables users to fully benefit from empower®’s advanced branding and formatting tools—without any user-generated content being saved to the cloud.

 How Read-Only Mode Works:

  • We configure your organization’s PowerPoint branding rules within empower®.
  • These configurations are deployed to your authorized users via secure Single Sign-On (SSO) authentication.
  • empower® Express has no access to your internal security infrastructure, and no data is uploaded without your explicit approval.
  • Our admin team works closely with a designated member of your team to tailor the experience to your firm’s needs.
  • Updates to branding or empower® functionality are coordinated with your team and pushed automatically to users.
  • empower® Express can connect to your local or network-based PowerPoint and Excel files—delivering all configured branding features while maintaining Read-Only status and avoiding any cloud integration.

Should your InfoSec team later authorize full functionality, empower® Express can be enabled to allow file saving and retrieval, unlocking the full potential of the platform while maintaining enterprise-grade security.

Installation & Setup Process:

To get started, please follow these steps:

  1. Provide User Information
    Send us the first and last names and email addresses of your designated trial users. These must be provisioned in our system prior to installation to enable login.
  2. Provisioning and Installation
    Once users are added to our Microsoft Entra ID tenant, installation is a one-click process.
  3. First-Time Login
    After installation, launch PowerPoint. If prompted, log in using your company email and password. If multi-factor authentication is in place, follow Microsoft’s verification steps.
  4. Network Configuration Checks
    For organizations operating within a tightly secured network, please ensure the following URLs and settings are allowed through your firewall and antivirus systems:
  • ensure access through your company's firewall is allowed for the following URL and all sub-adjacent URLs: https://express.empowersuite.cloud
  • all In-and-Outbound firewall rules are set for Port 443 to reach; https://express.empowersuite.cloud
  • Our licensing server is available at the following address: activate.empowersuite.com (IP 13.69.68.8) via Port 443. Please ensure that connection to this address is allowed in your Proxy/Firewall settings
  • Ensure your Anti-virus does not block the following URL and all sub-adjacent URLs: https://express.empowersuite.cloud
