User settings and preferences 

As you are getting started in empower® Express, it is useful to take a look at some of the user settings and preferences that you can set to ensure a personalized and more efficient experience in empower®. 

1. Setting your default template

• Send your template to the empower® team for initial setup.
• Access your template in the library by going to empower - New on the toolbar.
• Locate the master template folder and select your preferred template.
• Right-click on the template and choose set as default master or use the toolbar option.

2. Layout tools – add them to your empower® ribbon or to your Quick Access Toolbar

• Open the Layout tools in the side bar
• Go to the settings tool (the orange circle empower® icon) to add preferred tool groups to the ribbon
• To add them to the Quick Access Tool, right hand mouse click on relevant tools 

3.  Help and settings – User Settings

• Switch to the 'Simplified Ribbon' for a cleaner reduced interface
• Tick on 'Apply bullets' to ensure template related bullets are applied with the bullet tool

4. Help and settings – Charts User Settings

• Use this option to customize charting tool defaults, such as setting the default chart formats, linked items update behaviour, default points/series selection in charts, Gantt chart region and automatic loading behaviour
